Show Me Tell Me Questions Part 1

These show me tell me questions will benefit anyone taking the driving test in a Ford Fiesta.

Learning these will mean not having to spend as much driving lesson time on them.
These questions under the bonnet are tell me questions so there’s no need to handle anything.

Under The Bonnet

Q. Identify the brake fluid reservoir and how do you know you have enough in?
A. Point to the brake fluid reservoir and check levels are between minimum and maximum marks.

Q. Identify the engine coolant reservoir and how do you check the levels?
A. Point to the engine coolant reservoir and check the minimum and maximum marks.

Q. How would you check your oil before making a journey and where would you put it should you need to top it up?
A. Pull the dipstick out, wipe it clean, dip it again and check the minimum and maximum marks at the bottom of the dipstick. Oil should be topped up in the oil filler cap.

Q. How would you check you had enough windscreen wash before making a journey.
A. Point to the reservoir and check minimum and maximum marks.

Tyres

Q. How would you check your tyres for sufficient tread depth and what should they be?
A. Use a reliable tread gauge. The tread should be a minimum of 1.6mm across the middle ¾ of the tyre and around the whole circumference.

Q. How would you check your tyres for sufficient pressure and where would you find the information about the pressures?
A. A reliable pressure gauge is needed; refer to the owner’s manual for the information. Should be checked whilst cold, an unmoved vehicle should be fine.
When checking tyres for tread or pressure a visual check is needed. The tyre should be free of any cracks, bulges or any other visual damage, check all five tyres (remember the Spare).
